CURRICULUM OUTLINE
This course is required of all 7th grade students
20 Weeks of instruction
Art 7 aims to expand upon key concepts addressed in Art 6 as well as introduce new ones, keeping in alignment with the New York State Learning Standards for Visual Art.

Making/Analyzing/Appreciating Art
The Elements of Art
Subject Matter, Style, Goals of the Artist
ART Smart (7th grade edition – 20 works)
Art Literacy: Art history, Appreciation, Interpretation and Analysis Activities
Using the Elements of Art
Line, shape, form, color, value, texture, space
Still Life/Drawing
Strategies for observational drawing
Three-dimensional/sculptural experience
Thinking and creating in three dimensions
Perspective
Atmospheric/One-Point Perspective Methods
Digital Art
Using digital media as a creative tool
Non-objective Art Experience
Creating art void of subject matter and the mind set behind it
